to do

I bought a lot of wool this week for Christmas gifts and for my swap partner. I'll be knitting berets, mittens, scarves, and slippers! I hope I can get all of my knitting done since I have more than 5 gifts I'd like to finish before Christmas. I forgot to also mention washcloths and hanging towels. In total, I've made one hanging towel for my mom, and two for each of my grandmas.

I've knitted 4 cabled berets so far. I love knitting cables! They look so much more difficult than they are to knit. The picture above shows three of the berets-- the bottom two have 5 repeats and the top one is 4 repeats. I also made one with 3 repeats which is more like a beanie than a beret. The middle grey beret was knit with Malabrigo Merino Worsted, and the others were all knit with Patons Wool.

knitting frenzy

I've been on a sort of knitting frenzy for the past month or so.

By the end of the year, I'd like to complete:
- a wearable hat
- wrist warmers
- a project with cables
- a scarf made with lace weight yarn

baktus

I've been halfheartedly knitting this Baktus scarf for the past month. Actually, scratch that. I haven't worked on it in the past two weeks, but before that, I was working on it just a little bit every few days in between washcloths. Initially, I thought I would start a nice scarf for Dave, but after all the work and how much I love my first project with lace weight yarn, I almost want to keep it for myself! The color is very Dave, though, and when I showed it to him, he loved it. I hope I manage to finish it by Christmastime.

I'm not sure if I'll go through with making it into a really pointy isosceles triangle but I really like the pointed ends. If I don't keep this one for myself, I can't wait to finish this one and make my own.

materials:
- 1 skein Malabrigo Lace in Olive
- size 3 needles

just enough ruffles

I love all things with ruffles, so when I first saw Laura Chau's Just Enough Ruffles scarf, I knew it would be on my Want To Knit list. If it were up to me, I would have it in different colors, but I would probably start with one in grey and another in either blue, red or yellow.

materials:
- 2 skeins Malabrigo Merino Worsted in Pearl, Azul Bolita, Blue Graphite, Sauterne or Amoroso
- size 9 double pointed needles

or

- 3 skeins Knit Picks Elegance in Oatmeal or Jay
- size 6 double pointed needles

slouchy grey hat/beret

I've been lusting a slouchy grey hat or beret for so long. It seems like a nice thing to have on those days when your hair isn't looking its best but you're running short on time and don't want to wear a baseball cap. I have 3 or 4 patterns saved in my Ravelry favorites but I really like this hat below.

It looks like a 2x2 rib at the bottom, basic cables and seed stitch in between. I'm not a fan of the mushroom-esque shape that the hat has in the picture above, but it shows the seed stitch and cables better than some of the other pictures.

materials:
- 1 skein Malabrigo Merino Worsted in 510 Chapel Stone
- size 8 double pointed needles

introduction

I learned to knit 6 years ago but am very much a beginner. That doesn't stop me from adding hundreds of projects on Ravelry to my favorites, though. This blog will chronicle my progress on knitted projects, my yarn lust, and other fiber related things that I like. I follow many fashion blogs and often come across knitted items that just take my breath away. I'm going to share those things here.
